It never fails, a dog owner struggles to gain control over their dog and they have "tried everything", so they make a trip to Pet Smart to purchase an E-collar hoping that this will be the saving grace. Not knowing that these devices should actually come with very extensive instructions, they strap it on the dog and start pressing buttons. Out of confusion, the dog shuts down and stops making movements in any direction. Typically, they will find their "safe space", which is usually next to their owner, and cease all bad behavior. Unfortunately, this method of "direct collar pressure" will typically result in a very confused and afraid dog.

Hello, my name is Alex Huff. I own and operate Off Leash Tyler and One Shot Retrievers with my wonderful husband, Grant Huff. Grant and I have been in the dog world all of our lives. We are passionate about helping others and their pets reach their full training potential. We have both been involved in training gun dogs for a combined 30 years, which includes training them for duck hunting and high level retriever games, like hunt tests and field trials. From the drake mallard phenomenon in late-season Saskatchewan to the Ryman Theater afterparty at a Whitey Morgan concert, I’ve been lucky enough to have witnessed some of the damndest things in my travels. A 23-pound hot sausage on top of four-inch legs dragging cranes and white geese through mud may very well top that list.

Ambassador Alex Brittingham currently resides in Athens, Texas. Hunting has been a part of her life since the age of four, the tradition passed down from her father. Around ten years ago she started training her personal dogs for hunt tests and hunting. Now both her passion and profession lie in training dogs full time and she is quickly becoming recognized for turning her Jack Russell Terrier “Gator,” into an exceptional bird dog.

When you think of bird dogs, you might not think of Jack Russell Terriers. If that’s the case, you haven’t met Alex Brittingham. She’s the proud owner of Gator (our only YETI ambassador of the canine persuasion).
